Hi everyone!!
My name is Stacey Simison and I developed and added a boutique to Kamama when I realized that I could use my hobby and talents for Jewelry Design and Hand-Made Crafts and use them to complement my photography. I then decided to go one step further and use my business to create and spread awareness for and donate funding into the research of a disease that I and my mother live with: Fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by pain, body and muscle aches, skin tenderness, sleep problems, severe fatigue, and anxiety – among many other symptoms. There are simply too many to list here. This disease attacks 3 to 6 million Americans, according the American College of Rheumatology. However, there are simply not enough doctors who know what Fibromyalgia is or how to effectively treat the symptoms. Outside of the medical community is a general public that has no idea what a Fibro patient lives with. Unfortunately, that can lead to uninformed commentary that can be very hurtful.
For those reasons – among others – I have decided to develop a line of jewelry that will help to spread an informed word about Fibromyalgia. It will equip the wearer with a tool to help share her story with anyone that she meets. You can find this jewelry under the Fibromyalgia Awareness category.
I will also be donating a portion of ALL sales (not only the ones from the Awareness category) back into charities that are working very hard in the areas of Awareness and Research. At this time, there is no cure for Fibromyalgia. Every single thing that you buy here in this boutique will help us in our journey for a better life through both Awareness and Acceptance and the development of medications to help us live a normal life, just like you… and maybe one day, we will find a cure!
